SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW NOTIFICATION WEATHERFORD (CITY OF WEATHERFORD), Texas- On Saturday, November 28, 2015 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the City of Weatherford was alerted to a sanitary sewer overflow that resulted in an unauthorized discharge of wastewater by Heritage Park Trails near the intersection of Jack Borden and Santa Fe Drive. The overflow resulted in an estimated volume of 231,000 gallons of wastewater spilling into Town Creek. The overflow was caused by a significant amount of rainfall that resulted in infiltration, and also large debris found in the collection system; City crews removed large debris and cleaned-up the immediate area, preventative maintenance will be ongoing. Normal operations were resumed at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015. Local government officials and TCEQ state and regional offices have also been notified. The following precautionary measures should be taken by anyone within a 1/2 mile radius of the site: • Persons using private drinking water supply wells located within 1/2 mile of the spill site or within the potentially affected area should use only water that has been distilled or boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute for all personal uses including drinking, cooking, bathing, and tooth brushing. Individuals with private water wells should have their well water tested and disinfected, if necessary, prior to discontinuing distillation or boiling. • Persons who purchase water from a public water supply may contact their water supply distributor to determine if the water is safe for personal use. • The public should avoid contact with waste material, soil, or water in the area potentially affected by the spill. • If the public comes into contact with waste material, soil, or water potentially affected by the spill, they should bathe and wash clothes thoroughly as soon as possible.
